LAKE TOVEL
A jewel of Trentino is Lake Tovel. It is located in Val di Non and is an alpine lake within the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park.
This lake actually has many names.
It is known as the Red Lake, due to an algae that, until 1964, caused the waters to turn red, and the Bear Lake, because some brown bears inhabit the valley.
An ancient legend tells of a princess and her people who, rather than submit to a powerful king, sacrificed themselves and fought right on the shores of the lake, ultimately succumbing.
Because of this, the waters would turn red in summer, to remember the courage of that princess.
Today this lake is, the journey continues towards the lakes and finally reaches the village of Corredo, from where you can return to the starting point.
