A Yes for Life and the World: Choose Solidarity for Your Wedding

By choosing the path of solidarity, many couples have shown that it is possible to give an even deeper meaning to their “I do.” We have gathered the testimonies of some couples who made this choice to understand when and how it began.

The wedding day is a unique occasion to celebrate love, happiness, and dedication. But when a couple decides to extend love and dedication beyond the ceremony, making a choice that also benefits those in need or supports an important cause, the wedding becomes a moment of sharing and a message.

How to make this act of generosity and solidarity concrete? There are many ways. Some couples choose, for example, to create a solidarity wedding registry. Others send invitations opting for solidarity invitations. Still others opt for a zero-kilometer wedding lunch to support local commerce.

One of the most popular choices, however, remains that of favors: by choosing them from nonprofits and charitable associations, the traditional gesture of thanks is transformed into a powerful act of solidarity. We share some stories of those who made this choice.

Stories of Love and Solidarity

Marco and Alessia, for example, decided to celebrate their love not only with friends and family but with the whole world. For them, sharing and spreading love was the most important message: solidarity was the perfect way to do it. For this reason, they chose to support Doctors Without Borders, selecting wedding favors that helped fund humanitarian care projects worldwide.Their favors contributed to providing therapeutic food, blankets, and medical care in war zones. Each guest, receiving the favor, was touched by the implication of the couple’s choice, making the memory of the wedding even more meaningful.

Simone and Giorgia, on the other hand, wanted their most beautiful day to leave a concrete mark on the world. By choosing eco-friendly favors made from recycled materials, they wanted to convey a message of hope for the planet’s future, showing that love always makes a difference, both among people and toward nature. For them, it was a decision that enriched the meaning of their wedding, knowing their special day would have a positive impact on our planet.

Tommaso and Chiara wanted their wedding to reflect love and justice. For this reason, they chose very special fair-trade favors: — soapstone hearts made in Kenya. These little hearts, hand-carved by local artisans, symbolize a love without borders. They are easy to find online. Many colors are also available at the Doctors Without Borders Solidarity Shop: each heart helps artisans maintain a dignified standard of living while promoting the art of their community. With this choice, Tommaso and Chiara not only celebrated their union but also showed everyone how a small gesture can make a difference and help build a better world.

A Gesture of Love for Everyone

Choosing solidarity favors represents a gesture of love that goes beyond the traditional thanks to guests; it is a thanks extended to the whole world, a shared hope for a better future. It is a message that says: “Our love can help change things.” It is proof that even through seemingly small choices, like that of favors, important causes can be supported and a real difference made.
And for couples who choose this path, their “I do” becomes a yes not only to each other but to a better world.
