1. Lake Garda
Our tour of the lakes of Trentino could absolutely not start anywhere else but Lake Garda. Not only because it is the largest lake in our country, but also because it offers the greatest variety in landscapes and activities to enjoy.
The Trentino shore of this lake is perfect for spending a holiday or a weekend in contact with nature, good food, and exploration. Among the most beautiful villages to visit stand out Arco and its castle perched on the rock, Canale di Tenno famous for its Christmas markets and Nago-Torbole in the shadow of Monte Altissimo di Nago.
On this side there are also some trails dedicated to trekking and very scenic hikes. Not to be missed is the Ponale road, a walk perched above the lake waters that leads from Riva del Garda to Molina di Ledro, to be traveled either on foot or by mountain bike.

The lake’s name is closely linked to an archaeological discovery that made it famous. On its shores lies a pile-dwelling village over 4,000 years old. The open-air museum is a branch of the MUSE of Trento and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
3. Lake Tovel
Lake Tovel is still known as the “Red Lake” although it has not taken on reddish hues since 1964. The phenomenon was due to a high concentration of a particular type of algae that bloomed in the summer. The presence of this organism has decreased over the years, leaving us with the splendid blue-green waters that can be admired in all seasons.
Tovel is an alpine lake located within the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park at 1,178 meters altitude, surrounded by the high peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.
