Sirmione is one of the most beautiful villages on Lake Garda, an essential stop for anyone traveling along the Lombard side of the lake. It's no coincidence that it is probably the most famous location in the entire area, and it couldn't be otherwise. Scaliger Castle

The beautiful Scaliger Castle of Sirmione had to be our first stop. The castle, with its three towers and tall keep, is one of the best-preserved fortresses in Italy and also a rare lake fortress rather than a seaside one. Being surrounded on all four sides by the waters of Lake Garda, it gives the impression of rising directly from the lake, creating a truly unique atmosphere.

Built during the 14th century, by order of the podestà of Verona Leonardino della Scala, it was meant to protect the city from possible attacks. When Sirmione was later conquered by the Venetian Republic, the castle underwent some modifications, such as the strengthening of the dock, which have made it the structure that today on the lake to find those that best suit your needs!
