The trail is called 540, and passes through the forest descending to Rifugio Gardeccia and Stella Alpina. From there, you climb back up to Rifugi Vajolet and Preuss, a slightly steeper but well-maintained path.
The most challenging part comes next, leading finally to Rifugio Re Alberto and requiring more stamina (and leg strength). This section is more difficult, so we recommend continuing from here only for more experienced hikers.
Once there, you just descend again and continue toward the cable car, which will take you back down. However, this trekking route is just one of many in the area. Many others—just ask the huts or your guide—are even more accessible and offer varied and unique panoramas.
