The Monterano Reserve is located about fifty kilometers from Rome, northwest, not far from Lake Bracciano.
It is one of the most original and picturesque places in Lazio, ideal to visit during a day trip near Rome. Here lie the ruins of Monterano, a village that once extended over about nine hectares and of which today very little remains.
Once, Monterano was a glorious fiefdom and duchy owned by some of the most important families of Rome. Today, of San Bonaventura, it was in fact the hideout of the bandit Don Bastiano. Inside, there was the huge fig tree on which the heretic priest has his throne.
Besides these masterpieces, many other films have been partly shot in the Monterano Reserve, including Guards and Thieves with Totò and Aldo Fabrizi, The Vision of the Sabbath by Marco Bellocchio, Goodbye My Love, Goodbye by Michele Soavi and the TV series The Black Arrow How to Get to the Monterano Reserve.

Monterano is about fifty kilometers from Rome, west of Lake Bracciano. To reach the ruins of the ancient palace you need to get to Canale Monterano and then follow the signs towards the Nature Reserve. After
a few kilometers , you will find yourself in alarge clearing marked by a barrier where you can park your car and continue on foot. The trail is about 200 meters and leads directly to the ruins , primarily to the fountain and the Roman aqueduct.Climbing
