The History of the Wayfarer's PathIl Sentiero del ViandanteIl Sentiero del Viandante

This is a daily path used for hundreds of years by the lagheé, the inhabitants who have always lived near the lake . They are the ones who slowly built, stone by stone, with much sweat and sacrifice, everything you can admire along the Wayfarer's Path.

They essentially built a world within what we commonly know, and it is all waiting to be discovered.

Not far from the Wayfarer's Path, along the Como shore of the lake, and serving as a communication route between the plain and the valley, is the Strada Regina. This was even traveled by the Romans, so imagine what sensations you might feel if you walk it too. We’ll leave that to your imagination.

The fairly complex orography of the territory, meaning the physical features of the area with all its plains and hills, has over time given rise to various paths used by ancient populations since the earliest times.

However, the most used route is indeed the Wayfarer's Path, characterized by various dirt roads and mule tracks, which are rural roads with natural surfaces, often grassy and rocky, similar to trails, but wider. For this reason, they are suitable for the passage of pack animals and large herds.

If this story has somehow caught your attention, we recommend discovering the outdoor activities organized in the area, as they will allow you to fully experience the territory and everything mentioned so far.

When Is the Best Time to Set Out on the Wayfarer's Path?

The path is located at altitudes ranging from 200 to 1,000 meters above sea level, and temperatures remain mild whether it’s winter or summer.
