Discovering the Ragnolo Plains

More mountainous than the previous ones but not more difficult, the tour of the Ragnolo Plains is one of the best ways to enjoy the Sibillini Mountains Natural Park.

This natural balcony overlooking the northern side of the Sibillini can be easily reached by parking at Pintura di Bolognola, continuing towards the northern ridge and exploring these miniature mountain huts. On days with good visibility, you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Conero, about a hundred kilometers away, or the Gran Sasso, one hundred and fifty kilometers away but in the opposite direction.

There are also shorter hybrid routes, such as the one from the Pintura parking lot leading to the small monument on the top of the nearby hill; within about a half hour you can reach the spot even at a very slow pace, still enjoying an impressive view and even more interesting details.

The Ragnolo Plains are in a very interesting strategic position because they are close to several of the most interesting trails in the Sibillini Mountains, such as the one to Pizzo Tre Vescovi or the one towards the Fargno Refuge, a true crossroads.
