Traveling in summer isn't for everyone. Some people, for one reason or another, much prefer winter travel. This season, often overlooked by many, is actually perfect for hitting the road. With the sole exception of the Christmas period, there are plenty of very affordable winter holiday offers.

Some travelers love cold destinations to enjoy snow and winter sports. But many others, even in the middle of January, seek warm places to relax under a palm tree, soak up the sun, and stroll the beach in flip-flops.

Prague

Prague is a wonderful city in any season, but visiting it in the heart of winter is truly an experience not to be missed. There are many reasons. First of all, here winter months are considered low season which is great for those choosing it for their holidays. You can get flights and hotels at very low prices without sacrificing any comfort.

Moreover, Prague in winter lights up with a truly magical atmosphere and glow. Perhaps it's the snow on the Gothic architecture or one of the oldest and most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe but the historic center takes on a unique charm and a warmth that feels like home.

Consider that the market takes place inside the Prague Castle, one of the monuments you absolutely must visit! The real surprise, however, is the Old Town and its central square, dominated by the magnificent astronomical clock and a Christmas tree over twenty meters tall! over twenty meters tall!

Iceland

For your winter trip, do you want to clear your mind and lose yourself in wild nature? Then it's time for you to travel to Iceland.

This land, mostly pristine and uninhabited, is one of the most beautiful and pure places on earth, to visit at least once in a lifetime. Winter can be the ideal time to do so, because during these months you can admire the Northern Lights, a unique and thrilling natural phenomenon.

The aurora can be seen almost everywhere and, contrary to what you might think, even the historic center of Reykjavík is a good viewing spot. However, the Icelandic capital alone is not enough to discover all that this country offers, so venture along the entire Ring Road with must-see stops at the Blue Lagoon, for a relaxing break, the Vatnajokull National Park, to admire the enchanting Diamond Beach, and the fantastic Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls.

Something Warm: A Trip to the Other Side of the World

If you are among those who suffer from the constant cold and subzero temperatures in winter, then this section is for you! Would you like to spend Christmas in flip-flops? Are you tired of mountains and snowshoeing? Do you want some good relaxation among the waves? Here are the warm destinations chosen for you!

Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is one of the most beloved winter destinations. Considered the true pearl of the Caribbean, the island boasts very diverse landscapes. Inland, you'll find tall mountains covered in vegetation, while the coast is dotted with mangroves and white beaches with turquoise waters that seem like paradise on earth.

If besides sunbathing on the sand, you also enjoy sports, the Cabarete Bay is a key spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. Take the opportunity to venture to Cayo Arena atoll and the Catalina and Saona islands to admire animal species such as turtles and manatees, as well as one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world.
